Enrichment

Last week I attended my second academic enrichment workshop. I stayed for about an hour and during that hour , I learned a lot. I got to speak to different departments and learned a couple pointers about financial aid, sports and tutoring if I needed it. The people there were very friendly and I also got to meet a couple of other freshmen while doing so. I learned about internships and where and how I can get one. Although I got there a little late I learned a lot.

10/28

this week’s freshman seminar was a big eye opener to me.

i came into Baruch, telling myself i’d give it my my all, my full effort, all of my attention but I’ve only lied to myself.

i first took freshman seminar as a joke. the class meets every other Monday and only for a little over a hour, which shouldn’t be a problem for anyone to attend, yet I’ve still managed to miss the maximum allowed absences.

I’ve been looking through all the information about the upcoming workshops and i’m slapping myself across the face while doing so. all of the workshops sound very interesting, and some even hold important value to me. the academic enrichment, career exploration, and personal enrichment workshops all sound fantastic, and i wish i would’ve jumped at the opportunity to attend them from the start.

with all this said. i wish to apologize to and thank, Deepa. thanks for the warnings and the help, and i apologize for not coming more often. i really regret it.

todays class

Today I found out from my peer mentor that there is only one month left to go to the required workshops. So far I only attended one but over the next couple of week I am going to work hard to attend as many as possible because there is still time if I scheduled my time well.

Midterms

Midterms, and tests in general, are boring, useless, and a waste of time. There’s no way to standardize knowledge, so it’s impossible to standardize a test of knowledge. All they do is waste time and stress people out for something totally unproductive and useless as an actual test of one’s knowledge. There are ways to test knowledge that one possesses, but those methods cannot be standardized as knowledge isn’t standardized, nor are the ways in which one best exhibits their abilities.

Midterm week. . . oh joy.

My midterm week sucks. There’s so much to remember. I feel as if every professor expects so much as if I don’t have 5 other classes to remember information for. All the dates and names and terms and historical events are too much to remember. My mind can’t hold all of that information. I hope I don’t do terribly on my Pub Admin essay. Hopefully it will be some topic I know. Well… back to studying :-(.

academic services fair

this week on wed I attended my first enrichment workshop . I went to  the fair during club hours and before my anthropology class for about an hour. While there I got to learn about picking majors from academic advisement and internships from the weissman center for international business just to name a few. I had a good time and got a free shaving razor out of it. lol

Academic Advisement

It was good to have the session for Academic Advisement. I understand the general requirements to graduate now, depending on what kind of a degree I want. I’m not really sure what I am going for yet but I know what I need to do to graduate. I also kind of have an idea of what classes I should take next semester.
