Title of workshop: Freshman Reception
Category of Workshop: Student Life
Date/time of workshop:9/17, 12:30-2:30
I mainly attended this workshop in order to get a better understanding of the classes I could take in spring. I was also wondering which minors were available knowing that we’d need to declare it next year, right? So when I exited the elevator, I was surprised to see a massive crowd of people in the hallways. I expected a low number of students to come being that it was pretty early to start going to workshops. Well, I later realized some people thought it was mandatory.
Well to say this workshop didn’t help me at all is an understatement. The workshop lasted for a total of ten minutes, the Center of Advisement ran out of folders, and everything the advisor said was a rehashing of what I heard at orientation. Maybe it depended on the advisor, but I didn’t learn anything new. It could have been that because of the amount of people who came, she wasn’t prepared, I don’t know.
I wouldn’t really recommend this workshop to another student because there was nothing new to hear. I was expecting to get a lot of advice on how to go about picking classes for the spring semester and what was the best way to organize classes to achieve the requirements for the majors and minors. Oh well, maybe the next workshop will be better.
