Gallery tour: The Nature of Landscape/ The Nature of Photography

Arts at Baruch

Mishkin

1pm

This tours and other tours are to expose arts at Baruch, I wasn”t quite sure of the point of this exibit. I mean we see nature all around us all the time so having it up on walls really takes away from the “natural” experience. I chose this workshop because it was the only arts at the time. It didn’t meet myexpectations I expected extravegence and its was pictures on the wall, but I guess that’s what an art gallery is. I would reccomend this workshop to anyone who truly loves nature othere than that its a waste of time.

I chose this workshop because it sounded informing and I know communication is imporatant in any career. The presenters also told us about different clubs that are avilabe to strngthen our communicationg ability such as toastmasters. Internship and Goal Settings

This was my final workshop. I’m actually going to miss them. Only some of them. Our instructor was Mrs.Conway. She was really nice and professional. She didn’t make the workshop into one of those boring informational workshops. I was interested the entire time. It opened my eye up to the made different programs Baruch offer and internships I can apply for. They gave us a workbook of a sort to help us. I’m actually going to put it to use unlike the others. I didn’t know I was suppose to RSVP before the workshop but thank god not many showed up. Therefore i was able to attend. Everyone seemed engaged in the workshop.

Stress and Anxiety Reduction

This workshop wasn’t the one I orginally planned on attending but it was the second to last one. The workshop I wanted to go to was suppose to take place  last week friday. I actually was in school on friday only  to find out the workshop was canceled at last minute. The stress and anxiety reduction wasn’t bad. I felt out of my element most of the time but it has taught me how to manage my stress a little bit. Hopefully it will actually work in the long run.

Career Internship

Today I went to a workshop on career internship which was hosted by one of the STARR members.  It was very infomative on internships and gave me an idea on how to start early in college.  It also came with this handy handbook on the proper internships, how to set my goal, resume writing, etc.  This was by far the most important and most helpful workshop I have been to yet.  Sorry I couldnt make it to the last FRO class but that you Choi and Adam for guiding me along the way

Career Planning:Impression Management

On Tuesday, Oct.13.2009, I attended this workshop, in VC 3-215 @ 12:50-2pm.  I can say that i did benefit from this workshop.  The facilitator brought up the matter concerning facebook.  She said that employers, nagivate network sites to get information on their future workers. She mentioned that we need to be careful with what we make public. She had a power point ready on how we are supposed to be dressed, and the importance of being early to a interview. She refered to a time when she was on her way to an interview and it was a rain storm that day. Being about 30 minutes early, she was able to have time to clean her self up. She also gave us info in mock interviews and the workshops we need to attend to receive such services.

Stress and Anxiety

On Tuesday, Nov.3.2009, I attended the Stress and Anxiety workshop which was held in the multipurpose room from 1pm to 2pm.  I thought the workshop was a waste of my time.  It was extremely boring.  First the facilitators did an exercise with us using a raisin.  We had to feel the raisin in our palms and our mouths.  Then they had us bite into the raisin.  The showed us ways on how to solve a problem.  They also demostrated how to relieve stress, for examble holding your shoulders up and then releasing them.  I have tried it after the fact and I was relieved at all.  I did not get anything out of the workshop.  I could have spent 60 minutes doing something else.

Student Life

Fresh Start was a joke. We basically just looked over the same handouts we were given at orientation and had about 30 seconds to talk with a mentor, while being shoved by crowds.
However, that handout is really, really useful. The event just should have been better organized.

Student Life – Club Fair

A good event, although none of the clubs were really ace. I go to a lot of the club events advertised by flier anyway, because some of them have good events and free food.
