Basic interviewing skills. While some of the skills taught were valuable, it would have been better just to give us a paper of the power-point rather than waste our time. It did open up the career center to us, which is nice.
Most of it was very common sense.

Arts at Baruch
I attended a gallery tour with Sidney Mishkin on 09/23/09 at 1 pm. I chose this workshop because it was the only one that I could attend to at th emoment. This workshop wasnt very interesting to me, and I didnt really enjoy it. The art that was presented to us were good to a certain point. This workshop wasnt the best one I attended and I was very dissappointed because I thought that it was going to be better.

Personal Enrichment Workshop
I attended a workshop that dealt with managing relationships in college on 10/09/09 from 12 to 12:30. It was a great experience becasue I learned that it requires certain skills in order for one to manage not only love relationship but family and friend relationships during and after school hours. One of the activities that we did during the workshop, was to walk around the room and get to know at least 10 new people then later point out and briefly talk about them. I choose this workshop because it sounded very interesting and fun.

I attended the Club Fair on 09/24/09 and it was a great experience. I learned about the amny clbs that are offered in school. I think is a great thing all of these clubs that are available for students because its a chance to get involved with the school as well a s an extra curricular activity. This workshop had many clubs and fraternities/sororities that are recognized in the school. It was very fun and I met alot of people.

I currently attended the Student Fair on 10/13/09, where I learned about financial aid, medical records, certain programs that help students go through with college. This workshop helped me know and realize the amount of help the school offers for students. I selected to attend this workshop because I barely know any of the offices or help that was available in my school. It was a chance that helped expand my mind.

community global awareness
I attended the fall blood drive on Tuesday nov. 6, from 12:00-12:30pm…which basically consists of donating blood for those in need…a bag of my blood can help save 3 to 4 lives…the reason why I chose this event was because of the fact that I wanted to help others and it just felt good. I’ve done this before so it wasn’t a new experience….I do it everytime and you all should do so aswell….helping others is helping yourself too

Relieving stress is a vital part of life because stress can affect someone physically, mentally and emotionally. The workshop helped to find different ways to deal with stress and anger. I seleceted this workshop because I feel like school is stressful. It’s hard to adjust from doing absoulutely nothing senior year of high school to a full workloadin college. I will admit my transition is a lil rough so far. This workshop took me out of my comfort zone during the breathing exercises, everyone was snickering because i guess we were full of enery and to go from being hyper to relaxed in a few minutes can be difficult. I thought the exercise was pointless. The speakers also taught us how to release tension out of our musles by contracting our muscles of a certain area for about 3 seconds then letting go. It is supposed to make us feel better. I owuld reccommend this worskhop to anyone whose interested in medetation. I learned how to mentall y deal with stress y clearing my mind first an taking deep breaths.

The workshop was about stressing the importance of first impressions and any impression a person may give to a possible boss. You must be on your toes with impressions because a person only has one first impression and simple bad habits like slouching or looking down can create a bad first impression.I selected this workshop because impressions is a very imporatant part of anyone’s career even though it may not seem so. Everyone gets judged and judges a person on thier first impression. It didnt take me out of my comfort zone because I’ve heard this at workshops I was involved with outside of school.The workshop met my expectations the speaker discussed basic impressions rule and then some. I woul recommend the workshop for anyone whose interested in building a good career. It kinda give you a little check or reminder to look out for during an interview or a jobfair or any networking activity.I learned that even the lady at the front desk can be an influence in a job prospect. A person’s vibe or personaility needs to exert in a positive way. A good first impression is when someone’s confident but not cocky.If the first impression goes wrong it would be vital to make sure the second impression goes well.

Play the Basic-communicating your way to the top
Today, Tuesday, November 4, 2009, in the Advisement Center at 1pm, I attended a workshop which demonstated how to build communication skills that will be vital for the near future. I believe that the workshop was productive and the 3 facililators did well in capturing my attention the entire time. They had a power point prepared and they showed which classes we needed inorder to build our communication skills. They showed us the english classes or communication classes we would need to enroll in. They also gave us general information on how to make usage of resources such as STARR, SACC, and the Advisement Center. I will definitely take into consideration everything I learned today!

Club Fair
The club fair was great. I was very glad that i went to it. I signed up for a few clubs but I still need to manage my time better to attend the meetings. I joined the archery club and Caribbean club. I also signed up for the Tae Kwon Do club. A few hours later I was reconsidering the Tae Kwon Do club because I studied Shotokan Martial Arts and I don’t want confiction. They tried to get that dj thing going with the dances but that was horrible. Lack of a sound system… organization was poor. I definitely would fix that if I was part of that.
