During the Community Global awareness workshop the main issue was “Changing America – Sotomayor”. During the workshop three speakers (history teachers) spoke about the challenges of being a female, minority in an authoritative position. The first speaker focused on women and how they have progressed with still many issues present today like glass ceilings. The other speakers focused on minority groups making their way up to positions of authority despite there situations. This workshop provided a different perspective for me on the cultural issues that minorities and women still face today.
