I attended a Personal Enrichment workshop today dealing with Stress & Anxiety. It was held in the Multi-Purpose Room from 1-2 pm. The first thing we did was a breathing exercise. Since the instructor played it from his iPod, it was difficult to hear but I tried my best. Then they handed out a sheet describing some strategies for dealing with stress and also for communicating with others. There is what is called DEAR MAN which stands for Describe, Express, Assert, Reinforce, Mindful, Appear Confident, and Negotiate. These steps are basically approaches in which we should pitch our “problem” or “idea” to someone when we want them to understand and accept. The last thing we did was a relaxing exercise where we released stress from our entire body starting with our feet all the way up to our face. It really did work! So anytime I feel like I need to release some stress and anxiety I can do this exercises and carry on with my day.
