On Oct 27 I attended a workshop entitled Small Talk for Career Exploration. This was one of the workshops that actually interested me and taught me quite a lot. I already knew the importance of small talk in any type of environment, it helps you meet other people, network, and get your name known. This workshop emphasized the importance of small talk in the business world. The main point i got from the workshop was that though the phrase is “small talk”, its actually a BIG factor in your career. Through small talk you’ll never know who you’ll meet, it can be someone with connections or someone with a high position in a company, and if they take a liking to your personality it can offer some impressive benefits.
This is yet another workshop that i attended with my buddy Mark Dyu. We are like day and night (literally). However, I also learned how “small talk” is a vital attribute that many student lack. I sharped my skills in this workshop by learned certain topic I can hit on. One of the mot common topic you can carry on when having small talk is current events.
