I went to the interviewing workshop but I didn’t really find it very helpful only because I have a job and have had others so I know how to conduct myself in an interview. I know you have to dress a certain way and speak a certain way. As far as the hand shake goes, I think to have a firm handshake it matters more to men then to women. I already know what it feels like to deal with a boss who looks at your appearance all the time. If I dont dress ready for work and she sees me, she wont pay me for that day. Overall the workshop was ok but nothing I didnt know already from my job or from what my brother told me.
I went to a career exploration on impression management. The workshop made me think about stuff that I never thought about before, such as impressions to our professors. I never thought about that before and assumed they didn’t really care. We were also told about how we presented ourselves to others in our environment. We were advised on how to dress and act appropriately depending on situation. We were taught the courtesies of thank you notes after interviews. I think this workshop is very helpful especially because it makes students think about things they don’t usually think about. Like facial expressions, because they can give us away without knowing it .
