So yesturday I saw Rang de Basanti, a Hindi movie about five college kids who are acting in a movie about a political protest against the government in the 1920’s. At first the group was fun and carefree but after a friend of theirs dies in a faulty aircraft and then defense minister blames the pilot for his own death, they start to take matters in their own hands and go against their government too. It was a wonderful movie and sad at the same time. It really makes you think that even today governments are corrupt and how far will people go for change. I would recommend it to anyone because it has comedy, romance and a real message. It shows what really happens in India today.
Since there were no more global awareness workshops, I decided to volunteer at a soup kitchen that my sister volunteered at. When I got there, it was smaller than I expected and the people were friendlier than I expected. When I arrived I was told to wash my hands, put on a hairnet and an apron. After that I was told my position was to serve the food the hand out the utensils. I volunteered for about an hour and 15 minutes. The people who came in were nice and grateful to be helped. I think that having a soup kitchen giving out free food for those in need is really nice. The people who were in charge were also very nice and easy to get along with. It was a great experience.
