Global Community Awareness

I attended a Global Awareness workshop on September 22nd, and t was all about the new Supreme Court justice, Sonia Sotomayor. This workshop was very informative as it gave much further insight to Sotomayor as a person by describing the several challenges she had to overcome on her way to becoming part of the Supreme Court; all of which were expressed by three guest speakers. The major issues they covered were the biases that Sotomayor had to overcome, of both sex and race, and what is expected of her as a Supreme court justice. This workshop was very informative as it opened my eyes as to how much racial and sexual bias plays a part in government even to this day, a stark realization that was brought upon thanks to this workshop.
