With paticipating this discussion, I had learned lots of specific phenomena about the racism that still appear in our day-to-day life, even in our school, which is the most diversed compus around the nation. I learned to view myself more objectively about the actions I took before during this semester with consideration of the racism. Such as when I went into my class, the first thing I would done is to see what kind of group of people sit in the class room, Whites, Blacks, Asians,or Hispenics, and I would rather to have a seat with Asians.
The imformation about the shift of the population of the United States really took me out of my confort zone. It shone that the population of whites will fall from 67% in 2005 to 49% in 2050, the white population will become the minority not the majority. Also, the population of Hispenics will increase to 29% by 2050. This is amazing!!!
The reason why I chose this workshop was because I wanted to know how would they describe the changes of roles of the African Americans and Hispenics politically and socially in the era of Obama and Sotomayor, and I was also wishing to see would they talk about the situations of Chinese in our society.
Anyway, that was a great workshop!!
Thank you
Glad you attended. Great notes and great post.
