4) How did the workshops affect your perspective of the topic that was discussed?

Tell you the truth; I am not really an “art” person.  Surrealism and other funky artworks confuse me. I prefer a realist image of the world mainly because our world are considered to be “real”, and those enigmatic artwork should reserved for the goal-less people (no offense if you are one of them, its just my personal opinion).

Anyways, the artworks are really fine just as well as the artists who created them. I don’t think I will be able to produce any of the paintings any time soon since I have can’t even perfect a drawing of a circle.

5) How did the workshop take you out of your comfort zone?

Does not apply, I feel pretty comfortable during this workshop.

6) Explain what the workshop was about and tell us why you specifically chose that workshop.

 I think artworks are interesting.

Student Life- Club Fair

4) How did the workshops affect your perspective of the topic that was discussed?

The club fair is really cool. I did not expect the DJ and the dancing, but it adds an excellent atmosphere to the club fair. Althought, I did not really get a chance to view the entire club with all those people blocking the signs, but I do get a chance to pass out some flyers for my club (FBLA-PBL). 🙂

First of all, I would like to advertise my club. Secondly, I want to join some clubs.

Career Exploration- Baruch Student Employment Program

4) How did the workshops affect your perspective of the topic that was discussed?

I will have to say, this is the most helpful workshop I had attended. The reason why is because I actually got a job from this workshop working as a lab assistant in the BCTC lab in the library building.  Which is always a plus :), but other than that,  I believe that is about it for this workshop, nothing is really interesting

6) Explain what the workshop was about and tell us why you specifically chose that workshop.

This workshop inspires students to take a first step towards career exploration by offering a chance of employment at a Baruch department. I chose this workshop because I want to apply for a job as well.

career exlopration???

I was suppose to go to the career exploration workshop this Thursday but they didn’t let me in because I was one minute late. I can’t believe it. The workshop was to start at 1 o’clock but i got there at 1:01 and they told me that i cant get in because its past one. This was ridiculous, now i have to find another day to go. Did this happen to anyone else??? Gosh!!!!!

Community Global Awearness- Challenge your Values “Lets talk Ethics”

1) Title of Workshop: Challenge Your Values: “Let’s talk Ethics”

2) Enrichment Area Fulfilled: Community-Global awareness

3) Date/Time Attended: 09-17-2009 (12:30-2:30PM)

4) How did the workshops affect your perspective of the topic that was discussed?

The most interesting part of the workshop will be the challenge problem where we have to make decision. We have to pick 6 out of 10 people who were on a wrecked ship to a life boat, and the ones left behind will surely die. I have to say, it’s quite difficult. I picked the Captain, Lifeguard and so on, but I just don’t see how these decisions led to ethics.  It’s not like any of the decisions will be “ethical” because human life is lost anyway you pick.

6) Explain what the workshop was about and tell us why you specifically chose that workshop.

This workshop is quite interesting. What is considered to be ethical? That is the main question raised during the session.

Club fair

The club fair was very very very crowded. Just getting into the gym took ten minutes because of the very long line. However I noticed that there are various kinds of club in Baruch college. I didnt notice or find a club that interested me but I was amazed by the number of clubs. I also really liked the small map of the subway routes that they gave out in the entrance to the gym. It’s pretty useful since I’m always riding the subway =)

Gallary Tour

The gallary tour was pretty boring to be honest. We talked about various photos of the nature and the landscape. We talked about what the photos meant and what they symbolized. The group was pretty big so not everybody was able to have their say throughout the tour. I don’t know much about photos but the gallary was fulled with interesting and great photos in my opinion.

Library Workshop

I learned a lot from the library workshop. The librarian taught us various methods to rely on the internet to get reliable information for school purposes. I didn’t know that google had different tabs and sections to concentrate more on the information you are seeking for. It was quite a useful and interesting workshop. It was a little long and boring in the beginning but towards the end it was getting more fun.

ethnic workshop

I went to the ethnic workshop a while back in the beginning of the school year and it was pretty interesting. It was a group work, that talked about various scenerios and we had to decide whether was is ethical or not. I had a lot of fun thinking about each case and deciding if it was ethical or not. I noticed that my opinions were a lot different from others but it was interesting to hear about there thoughts and ideas as well. I had a lot of fun at this workshop. =D
