The first week of college has been an interesting experience to say the least. I have met a great number of people with whom I have something in common, whether it be a class we share or a common interest like basketball. What most surprised me about college was the freedom that is not there throughout high school. During the first week we got ourselves acclimated to the Vertical Campus where most of our classes are, and on Tuesday our peer mentor, Jane Odartey, showed us the William and Anita Newman library. When I first went to the library during the first week I was amazed because I had never seen a library that big, and it almost seemed alive because there are always people there. Jane showed us around the library, from the reading area to the checkout desk, and the area where we can borrow laptops and calculators. She also showed us how to take out books and reserve rooms to study in. This tour of the library was incredibly helpful and I can see myself spending a lot of my free time there.
Hi Iordan!
Its good to know that you are getting along pretty well on campus. Don’t forget though that with freedom comes a certain responsibilities. I am glad you found the tour useful and plan to get more aquatinted with the library during your undergraduate years!
