On Wednesday afternoon, in lieu of a usual class of Freshman Orientation, myself and the other students were taken on a tour of the gigantic and quite impressive Baruch library. The library contains many floors, each including a wide variety of books that students can take out or use as reference. In addition, the library is a very comfortable place to study since it includes many chairs and tables, and is well lit and quiet. The building that houses the library also contains a gigantic computer room, and all of the computers in the aforementioned room are equipped with high speed internet access. The tour of the library, however, was a relatively useless activity. This is not meant as a critique of the tour, but more so as a compliment of how easy it is to navigate the library because everything is well laid out and clearly labeled. When you first walk in, there is a directory explaining where everything is and, if you forget about that, then you can rely on the comforting fact that everything is labeled with giant bold silver letters. I plan to use the library regularly and consider it a great asset to Baruch.
Bradley,
This a very well written post. I’m glad that you find the library efficient and easy to use. Also,I’m glad you came on the tour despite the fact that you thought it useless,I hope you will be able to help some of your peers who find the “the gigantic and impressive” library a bit overwhelming.
Thank you for sharing your view on the tour and I look forward to reading your future posts!
