Freshmen Reception

After a day of class, I headed to the freshmen reception on Thursday September 17, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. As I got there many freshmen were already crowded around the entrance and waiting to be told what to do and where to go. Since it was Baruch’s first time to have this reception as a workshop, everyone was a bit lost and I was pretty confused. One of the advisers then told a group of freshmen to enter through the back door for faster access. As I followed along I end up not receiving the folder that was being hand out from the front, but the advisers told us that we are able to pick it up any other time when it isn’t so crowded. As I enter one of the rooms the adviser, Donnie Brown, talked about the papers that were handed out in the folder. She told us about the majors that we can study here at Baruch, and how to obtain a specific degree for that major. The tier requirements that are needed in order to enter our major program and to graduate from Baruch. Donnie also talked about how to calculate our GPA and what it takes to gain it. This reception was truly helpful. They made students feel comfortable and as if we are all in it together. They were extremely friendly and provided information that I believe every new incoming student should know.
