Avon Walk for Breast Cancer

On a beautiful Sunday morning, today on October 11 from 9:30am-12pm, I went to the Avon Breast Cancer Walk with my freshmen seminar group. The train ride there was long and troublesome, it ran on a different route and many trains were making local stops, I almost thought I was lost at one point. When I got there, I met up at our station, which was at Bryant Park; there were also many other volunteers there beside our group. Many of the volunteer people including us wore pink and cheered them on with shouting, pom-poms and noisemakers to show our support. The walkers looked very tired but yet the smile on their face showed that they were proud and determined to finish the walk. Especially with the cheering, it seems to get them more motivated. There were men and women, young and old, all walking together to fight against breast cancer. Seeing them so energetic and determine, made me feel encouraged that just doing a simple thing, such as cheering, can help them and be a part of a motivation to them. I am glad that Jane told us about this event and gathered all of us to be a part of it. It was definitely an eye opening to see how many people are walking and fighting against breast cancer. I definitely recommend anyone who is free to take some time out and help support these walkers. It was a fun experience for me and I plan to attend more of these beneficial walks.
