Internship and Goal Setting

On October 22, 2009, I attended a workshop on internship under the career exploration section from 12:30pm-2:00pm at room 1-107 located in the Vertical Campus building. Throughout the workshop, the internship coordinator spoke to us about the importance of internships, ways to look for internships and a lot more very useful information. I found out several corporations that are available for internships which I would like to have an opportunity to work for later on such as PWC and Debitte. Another way to search for internships is though the STARR search website which is a Baruch database that is very useful and user-friendly. The speaker also urged us to update our profile in order for us to search for internships that suits our interests. Through internships, we do not only get to know how it is to work in the field of our interests, but also to increase our chances of getting a job from the corporation we interned for after we graduated. Although interning is important, the speaker also told us that freshmen should focus on maintaining a strong grade point average in order to compete with other fellow colleagues for internships later on. Overall, I find this workshop very informing and helpful and I will definitely recommend this workshop for anyone that is interested in learning more about internships.
