I attended a workshop on Career Planning located on the Vertical Campus building in room 1-107 on October 22 from 12:30-2:00. The speaker introduced herself as the internship coordinator for Baruch College and passed out Undergraduate Internship Manual booklets. She informed us about the importance of internships and how it can benefit us and also discussed the different types of internships we can choose from. She provided us with many useful websites and names of different programs we can apply to for an internship of our choosing. One of the most important website was the Starr Career Development website or STARR search which is located on the Baruch College homepage. Although internships are very important since it can help us with finding a job in the future, she advised us to wait until our sophomore year before applying for one because it is it more important for us to maintain a good GPA. I pick this workshop because I was interested in applying for an internship. I felt that both the speaker and this workshop was very informative and I learned a lot more than I thought I would. It did take me out of my comfort zone because I was never informed about the many aspects of internship aside from the fact that I would gain work experience. This workshop met my expectations and I would recommend it to other students interested in applying for an internship.
