Sidney Mishkin Gallery Mercedes Matter: A Retrospective Exhibition

I attended the art workshop on Mercedes Matter: A Retrospective Exhibition in the Sidney Mishkin Gallery on East 22nd Street, on November 3, 2009, from 12:45PM to 1:15PM. We took a tour with Sandra Karskin who gave us information on Mercedes Matter on how she matured as an artist. The paintings were placed in chronological order to show us how this artist began as a young artist to a person who was able to create abstract art wonderfully.  It definitely amazed me that she was able to be a successful artist and continue art throughout her life. Our tour guide also told us that art is an important field in business. I would recommend this tour to everybody because it is a good experience to have some knowledge about art; especially in the business world because art is now involved with business. It is also a good idea to learn how to analyze abstract art and try to understand what the artist is trying to depict.
