Sidney Mishkin Gallery

On Tuesday November 3, I attended the Sidney Mishkin Gallery. There was a workshop there which involved an exhibition of Mercedes Matter. We were given a tour, during which we found out why art is important. We were told that art is an important part of the business world because it is easy to make money off it and easy to meet bosses in the business world that have anĀ interest in art. After explaining this concept to us, the tour began. The paintings by Mercedes Matter were displayed in chronological order so that everyone is able to see how her art progressed and matured. Most of her paintings involve very simple objects, such as fruits and vegetables, but with creativity she was able to make them abstract. It was shocking that someone can dedicate their life to drawing the simplest of objects. I really enjoyed this exhibit and learned a lot from it.
