Breast Cancer Walk

On the morning of October 11, 2009 I woke up early in order to partake in cheering on the participants of the Avon Breast cancer walk.  It was a chilly but nonetheless beautiful day.  I was actually looking forward to attending the walk because I wanted to help out with a good cause and because I knew victims of breast cancer.  I was running late to the walk because of train problems.  Once I got out of the train station, I began to worry because I was close to half an hour late and I didn’t know where the rest of the class was.  I saw a group of people across the street from me wearing pink and that were cheering walkers on so I thought that was our class, but upon closer look I realized that it wasn’t.  As a result of that, I called Jane, our peer mentor only to find out that we weren’t cheering the walkers on anymore!  I was really disappointed because I had just wasted 3 hours commuting to and from the walk and also because I wasn’t able to do something for the walkers.  I was really glad however of the fact that there were other people there cheering the walkers on and encouraging them and helping the walkers pull through and finish the walk.  I’m sure that the walkers are really grateful and are given that extra push to finish.
