The Truth About Suicide

On Thursday, November 19th, I attended a Student Life workshop about the truth of suicude. In this workshop, the speaker was an advisor who helps students cope with their problems in Baruch. He explained to us, that if we ever needed to talk to someone about anything, he is there to help. This really made me happy because now I know that if I’m having any problems adjusting to college that I can go to him. Next, he showed us a 30 minute film about the friends and relatives of people who have committed suicide or attempted to commit suicide before. This really opened up my eyes on this topic, because I learned that suicide is extremely common with young adults in college. I thought this was a really sad workshop and the video really got me to think about how terrible and scary suicide is. It was also nice to know that colleges are taking more action into suicide prevention.
