Suicide Prevention

On November 19 I attended my last workshop called Sucide Prevention in room 3-195 at 1:00. We were shown a short video that a few students made to honor students that had died from suicide and to help raise awareness of suicide so that it can be prevented in the future. All the people shown in the film was related to suicide in some way whether it was their sibling who had committed suicide or they themselves attempted suicide in the past. Although suicide was not a new topic for me since it was taught in my high school, the video really showed me the reason why people attempt suicide which was what I wanted to learn about. Sucidal feelings mainly results from intense depression and is described as being ” trapped in a long dark tunnel with no light at the other side”. The video also advise us to seek help if we have suicidal intentions or help others who have depression get professional help. This workshop met my expectations and answer many questions I had on this subject which is why I would recommend it to other students.
