On Thursday November 19, I attended a workshop which was designed to prepare students for Job Fairs. The workshop had many students, not only freshmen. It featured two people from Verizon that specialize in recruiting and interviewing people for jobs in their company. This workshop was very helpful because it discussed several important things that are needed in the business world. We were handed a packet with important information such as how to “sell ourselves”, as well as info about the Job Fair. After this, we were given tips on how to prepare for the job fair, such as having questions ready to ask, and what types of questions the companies like to hear. They also explained the importance of networking in the business world, and one part of networking was knowing how to “sell yourself”. One example of selling yourself would be the “elevator speech”, in which you would introduce yourself. Overall, this workshop was very helpful to me because it explained to me the things I need to know before I go out into the business world.
