Community-Global Awareness

On November 11, 2009, I attended the Veteran’s Day parade here in New York City. Walking to school that day, I saw the city really honoring the soldiers and veterans in a big way. Walking down the streets of Broadway and Lexington, I saw thousands of soldiers. Personally I was surprised school was in session that day since all this was going on right next to Baruch. After finishing classes that day, I decided to go get lunch on Madison. After eating, I headed to Penn Station to go home. On my way there, I crossed 5th avenue and saw a parade going on. I decided to stay and watch the parade with the huge crowd. I haven’t really showed my support for America too much throughout my life, so this was a good way to give support. It was fun seeing all the bands and soldiers and veterans walk down the street and hearing everyone cheer for them. I even got interviewed by a news-woman from China. Overall, attending this parade was a fun and exciting experience.
