For my Art History Classes we had to do research papers and exams based on certain artworks and art periods. We could use the internet, books, libraries, but what I thought it would be great to go to the Modern Museum of Art, MoMA, on 53rd street between 5th and 6th avenues. This museum is so close to where I live, that I had to go to enhance my work. My essays were based on the Impressionist period, which the Modern Museum of Art has an extensive collection of. Unlike the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the MoMA requires people to pay for tickets unless you present your Baruch College Card making access into the Museum for free, which is great since I am on a budget. The MoMA has a great collection of Vincent Van Gogh Artworks including the Starry Night, a very popular piece known to many people around the world. I also saw a very interesting piece of work called “The Olive Trees” by Vincent Van Gogh. I decided to write about this artwork because it was so unusual. It was a landscape consisting of heavy brush strokes and it really made me think what possessed this artist to draw a landscape so chaotically. Therefore I decided to write about this artwork. This museum was so convenient to me and helped me write a better essay for my Art History Class at Baruch College.
