On November 12th, 2009 I attended the basic interviewing skills workshop. The goal of the workshop was to teach us how to properly prepare for and conduct a successful interview. The speaker was an advisor from Baruch’s STARR Center. She had personal experience with conducting interviews and I found her to be very insightful on the subject. She was able to give us a perspective from both the side of the interviewer and interviewee. She explained the basics of interviewing and what to do to prepare before an interview. She explained such things as how to dress, what to prepare to say beforehand, and how to act during the actual interview. Overall, the workshop was helpful and the speaker informed us, that as perspective candidates for the work force we must prepare extensively in order to make a good impression. She let us know that at the STARR Career Development Center we could find all of the support that we need in not only preparing for an interview but any other career related questions that we have.
