Today, I attended the Managing Relationships workshop held in room 1-107 on October 8, 2009 at 12:30pm-2:00pm. I thought the workshop was very helpful in terms of addressing student’s relationship with friends and family. College is a life changing experience and it may be difficult for some students to adjust to this academic environment fresh off of High School. This workshop discussed the many obstacles students face when it comes to managing their relationships with parents, friends and there significant other. Time was a major concern for my peers in terms of relationships because with college, students may not have as much time to spend with the people in their lives because of the amount of academic work assigned, clubs and after school jobs we take on. Therefore, time management is vital and students need to have a balance in their lives. The speaker also talked about the importance of networking especially in the business field. She advised us to join LinkedIn which is a valuable website for individuals to network and keep in contact with professionals to exchange information. This workshop took me out of my comfort zone because students had to walk around the room and introduce one another. I would definitely recommend this workshop to other students because it gives them the opportunity to meet other people and learn more about managing relationships.
