Library Tour

The library at Baruch is the complete opposite of the library at my High School. I like how the Baruch library is big, providing a lot of space and locations for me to study and do work or even relax. In my High School, the library was very noisy. There was no way I could do any work there. I am very optimistic that I will be able to, easily, study in peace and quiet myself or in a study group at the Baruch Library. Jane taught me some interesting facts about the library such as the locations of the copying and printing rooms, how to take out a book, and even how to take out a laptop. She also showed us a nice restful spot to rest or study and hang out to the right of the area where you enter. I am sure I will be spending a lot of time at the library doing work and studying so I like how the library has a lot of resources for research papers and other homework.

Baruch College Library

I really enjoyed the tour that we received last Tuesday of the Baruch library. I learned many things about the library that I had never known before. I like that we can borrow laptops from the library. Personally, I do own my own laptop, but I don’t like to carry it around much. This is very helpful if I am ever in need of a laptop for any reason. I also like that the library has so many computers available to use. It does tend to get packed every once in a while, but its very easy to gain access to the computers. I also learned how to print and copy in the library. I thought that the library was overall a great place to study and get your work done and I will be visiting the library fairly often.

Baruch Library

For me, the first two weeks attending Baruch College has been a great experience, especially visiting The William and Anita Newman Library. Jane Odartey, our student mentor showed us around on the first, second, and sixth floor. She even told us where and how we can take out books on our own, borrow laptops, calculators and textbooks. Baruch’s laptops and calculators are offered to students for either the entire semester or or a few days. Even the textbooks can be borrowed for either a few hours and returned on the same day, or a couple of days later. What I didn’t know about Baruch’s library is that if you want to study with a group of students, you can reserve a private room to do so. I’m glad Baruch offers these facilities to its students because for example not everyone can get access to a computer or a printer from home. I look forward to using and regularly visiting the library in my current and following semesters.

Baruch Library

This past Tuesday, Jane Odartey, our peer mentor, took our class on a tour of the William and Anita Newman Library, which I found to be very helpful. Jane taught us how to utilize the library in our best benefit. She informed us on how to check out a book, and also let us know that we are able to rent rooms, calculators, and even laptops. In my high school library, it was very difficult to get some studying done because it was basically a place people went to when they were bored and just wanted to have some fun. I can tell already that this library will be a tremendous help to me if I want to have a successful four years at Baruch College. Now I know I have somewhere to go to where it’s quiet and I can study for my classes. Another thing I found important was the amount of employees in the library because as a freshmen, I am sure I am going to have many questions and it is good to see that there are many people that can assist me with my questions.

Baruch Library Tour

The first two weeks of college as a freshman at Baruch has been both exciting and overwhelming. The transition from high school to college can be a challenge to students in their first academic year. However, with the help and guidance from my peer mentor Jane Odartey and the staff at Baruch College, I will be able to adjust to the new academic environment in no time. This week for Freshman Seminar, Jane gave us an extensive tour of the William & Anita Newman Library. I learned that the library offers a wide range of services and resources to students, accompanied by a friendly and active staff that are eager to help students. Jane gave a detailed description of the atmosphere of the library and taught us how to borrow and return textbooks at the circulation desk. Laptops, graphing calculators and even digital video cameras are available for students to loan. I was surprised to learn that the library offers keys to empty rooms for students that are looking to study on campus with each another. I’m glad to learn that the library is open from 7:00 am until midnight and even 24 hours a day during mid-term and final examination week. This gives students opportunities to obtain all the materials they need for their classes in a convenient manner and allows students to save a lot of money. The information I gained from the library tour was incredibly useful and works to my advantage. I am grateful to know how much the Baruch library offers to their students and look forward to visiting the library again.

Baruch Library Tour

This past Tuesday afternoon, our peer mentor, Jane Odartey took our group on a tour of the William and Anita Newman Library. This was a very educational experience, in which I was presented to the various ways of utilizing this library. When I first walked in, I was amazed by the library’s great size and tidiness. Jane first explained to us that we needed to activate our ID cards before we could actually check anything out of the library, which was crucial for us to acknowledge. She also showed us how to check out books, textbooks, and even calculators. This was all extremely valuable information which we all needed, being that we are freshmen and that we are all new to to this campus. At the conclusion of this tour, I felt that I had learned a great lot of useful information I needed in order to make use of the many resources offered here at the Baruch library. Jane made the entire time of this tour worthwhile, and I look forward to using this fascinating library in the future.

Library Tour

This week in freshman seminar, our mentor, Jane Odartey brought us on a library tour. I was really excited for this and to get informed on all the things that the Baruch library has to offer. This session really opened up my eyes. My expectations were greatly met. I learned that the library is a very helpful place and a great atmosphere. There are many things you can do there including taking out books, studying, borrowing calculators and many more. It’s a great way to get the students to study and concentrate on their work. It is also really helpful if a student wants to get a paper done quickly and easily. I have used the library countless times during this semester. The rooms people rent to study are a very good way for students to help out eachother.  I hope to learn more from this class and I will definately utilize the library from now on!

Tour of Old Books

This week’s Freshman Seminar class has been more interesting than the previous one because our peer mentor, Jane, took us on a library tour at the Newman Library. Due to Jane’s expertise on the library, I discovered exactly where to borrow textbooks and even learned a quick and efficient way to borrow books, which simply requires a scan of your Baruch ID and the material you wish to borrow. The same week, thanks to Jane’s informative tour, I was able to easily borrow a textbook to do the reading for my Art History class. Jane also showed us that the library is not only a just a place where one has to study, but also a place where one can just relax or even fall asleep. In addition she also showed us the rooms where you can study in pairs. I think these rooms are very effective and I may use them myself because they allow for solitude from all the distractions and sounds. Since Jane has showed us the many benefits and features of the library, I feel that I can confidently navigate and utilize the library on my own without feeling lost. The library no longer seems like an intimidating place and now I feel more comfortable going there.

Baruch Library Tour

Baruch is an amazing place. These seminars create an opportunity for new students to get to know the campus and how utilize Baruch’s resources. Last Tuesday our peer mentor, Jane Odartey, brought us to the library. It was a great experience to know how to borrow books, use computers and printers and even how to get the textbooks the professors reserve for their classes. I thought it was extremely helpful to know that we would need to activate our ID cards before borrowing any books because I would have never known.  The library is one of the most important places for a student and am thankful that I am able to use this place for studies and research.  I am extremely grateful that Jane led a tour because it was a wonderful experience to learn how to make use of my resources.

Baruch Library Tour

On Wednesday afternoon, in lieu of a usual class of Freshman Orientation, myself and the other students were taken on a tour of the gigantic and quite impressive Baruch library. The library contains many floors, each including a wide variety of books that students can take out or use as reference. In addition, the library is a very comfortable place to study since it includes many chairs and tables, and is well lit and quiet. The building that houses the library also contains a gigantic computer room, and all of the computers in the aforementioned room are equipped with high speed internet access. The tour of the library, however, was a relatively useless activity. This is not meant as a critique of the tour, but more so as a compliment of how easy it is to navigate the library because everything is well laid out and clearly labeled. When you first walk in, there is a directory explaining where everything is and, if you forget about that, then you can rely on the comforting fact that everything is labeled with giant bold silver letters. I plan to use the library regularly and consider it a great asset to Baruch.
