Annual Club Fair

I’ve attended the Annual Club Fair on September 24, 2009 from 12 to 2: 30 pm.  Going to this workshop helped me to fulfill the Student Life category.  It was extremely fun! I couldn’t choose which club to join and was overwhelmed with opportunities and information.  Every club sounded appealing in their own way. A variety of activates were happening at the same time, most memorable would be performances by student singers and dancers.

In the near future, I’m hoping to join some sorority or a dance club because that’s what I’m passionate about.

I’ve met many students at the club fair, who were not freshmen and it was very interesting to listen to what they had to say about Baruch and the clubs.

Managing Relationships Workshop

So today i went to the Managing Relationships Workshop. The place was packed, as expected. The speaker spoke about 3 different kinds of relationships: Family, Friends, and Romantic. I found the family one to be interesting because she began discussing the types of boundaries between college students and parents and i realized how many boundaries i have with my parents now. The Friends one wasnt as interesting because she basically restated what everyone had been telling us throughout our first semester. However, I did get to meet a couple of new people which was a plus. And the relationship part had no real interest to me. All in All, the workshop was a decent way to spend a 4 hour break.

Relationship Management Workshop

Before I begin, I wish I could change the font. I like Arial better than Times Roman. Anyways back on topic, I went to the Relationship Management Workshop. The workshop introduces themes that most knew. Such as: How to have a smooth breakup, how to talk to your parents about the change in time. She made us do some stuff too. She made us walk around to get to know people. I don’t really think that was effective because the people she called on didn’t go anywhere. Another reason as to why I don’t think its effective is because I forgot the names of those that I had talked to at the workshop. Other than that, it was a fun experience. There was a few clowns yelling out stuff so that made a few people laugh. I don’t really know how much I have to write about the workshops that I have attended. Is there a requirement to have a blog entry to be about one paragraph or do we have to type out an essay about it? Oh yeah, this is the 3rd workshop that I’ve attended. That leaves 3 workshops left.

Freshman reception

the freshman reception was basically an opportunity to be told everything we had already heard before at orientation but with some free lemonade and cookies. There was about 200 hundred people all crammed together in a small room with a long line of somewhat disgruntled looking people all waiting to get there signature and leave. luckily i was there a little early and got things over with rather quickly. Although I don’t feel like a learn anything of importance at least I have a nice sheet of all the available majors I can take.

Relationship Management Workshop

I found this workshop to be somewhat interesting. Especially when everyone had to get up and circulate the room making new acquaintances.  Getting to know other people who wer were just meeting for the first time. At first most people seemed to be nervous and so was I, but it was fun even though I only got to meet two other people. At the workshop we also learned about a networking site called LinkedIn.com which was said to be a website similiar to facebook but revolving more around adults. We could use the site to establish networks and connections to our professors and anyone else who may provide guidance through our student development and seeking careers. Overall, the workshop wasn’t bad but I’m looking forward to the very next.

Relationship Management Worshop

I just went to the  relationship Management workshop which was about establishing connections and friendships in college. It main point was that friendships in college can last a long time and will ultimately be beneficial in the future. Overall its wasn’t that bad but being told the same thing over and over was kind of annoying. At least the part where i had to go around talking to people wasn’t that bad; after all i got  to play with an itouch which is always fun.

Relationship Management Workshop

This workshop took place on Thursday, October 8th in the first floor of the Vertical Campus. It delt with the different types of relationships students in baruch have and the different ways they can be managed. The workshop started off with a discussion of families, then it progressed to networking and ended with personal relationships. For the most part the discussions were interesting and well spoken. I learned a few new things, linkedin.com and about the counseling department for example, and met some new people. This time the room was large enough to accomodate every student so I don’t think there will be another reception incident. Overall, the workshop was informative and well organized.

The Club Fair

The club fair was actually pretty fun. Although the line to get in was long and the gym was crowed, i’m glad I decided to go. The music was great and all the free food was even better. I signed up for several clubs including The Financial & Economics society and The American Marketing Assossiation. I also got to meet some upperclassmen which was great. Overall, the club fair was really enjoyable and I hope that i can attend similar ones in the future.

Freshman Seminar

So I know  I am way late but I attended the freshman reception on September 17.  When I first arrived with my friends, the line  was really long. Then the line was divided into two. When we finally got into the room, it  was crowded with  student. I got my planner signed and  some cookies and  lemonade  that  they were serving. In the  end , I think it was poorly coordinate.

Freshman Reception

Alright so i went to the Freshman Reception way back in September and it was totally chaotic. When we first got to the fifth floor, the line was humongous. Eventually getting to the front of the line, I had to wait even longer to get signed in. When signed in, I immediatly recieved a folder which had sheets detailing the majors, minors and the tier requirements. All in All, i felt that the seminar was handled poorly because they were short on helpers so people were all running around and what not. I felt that i gained nothing from it except a definite idea on what my minor will be.
