Workshop #2: Blood Drive

On 10/6/09, I attended the Blood Drive which was held in the multipurpose room. I had signed up for this event weeks in advance at the Blood Drive desk which had been stationed in the lobby of the 2nd floor. I had donated blood once before during my senior year of high school so I thought that it would be a good idea to donate again because of my previous experience which had gone very well.

On the day of my appointment, I entered the multipurpose and I had to sign in at the front desk. After completing the required health form, I waited for one of the nurses to call me so that I could be screened to see if I was healthy to give blood. The nurse determined that I was eligible to donate so I moved on to the next station to wait my turn to give blood. A little while later, I successfully gave blood and then I was directed to the refreshment table where I had sugary foods and drinks in order to help my body replenish itself. Overall, the experience went very well. I think donating blood is extremely important because hospitals are always looking for blood for those who are in need. My blood type is O-positive which means I am a universal donor and that anyone can use my blood. So I will donate whenever I have the opportunity to do so and I highly recommend everyone to consider donating as well because it is a great way for healthy people to give back to society by helping to save lives.
