Workshop #3: Diversity Career Programs Summit

On October 15th, I attended the Diversity Career Programs Summit that was being held in one of the lecture rooms in the Vertical Campus. I had been notified about this event through an e-mail from the Finance and Economics Society, which I recently joined. The event featured alumni and recruiters from Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO), Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT), and INROADS. I learned that these nationally established organizations provide great opportunities for ethnically diverse students who have career aspirations in business.

I really enjoyed the presentations made by the representatives from each organization and I thought it was a very worthwhile experience for me even though I can’t apply for them until my sophomore year in college. I learned how these organizations offer personal advisement and internships for its students. They also help with networking, training, and preparing for future job applications and interviews. Overall, I became aware of the amazing opportunities provided for students towards pursuing their career goals. The alumni that presented all described how their experiences with these organizations had helped paved the way for their futures. They strongly recommended applying and I will definitely considering doing so next year.
