About three weeks ago on a Saturday I attended the CAMA event hleld at the Goldman Sach building located on Oldslip by Wall Street. It was a very interesting meeting held from 9 am to 3 pm. Although they spoke about a lot of terms that I myself didnt understand mostly because I am a freshmen and have not been able to take buissness classes yet. There were things that I was able to pick up on when they spoke about the increasment of profit the company makes he projected a graph that reminded me of Concavity which at the time I had learned about in my Calculus class.
They also spoke about what they are looking for when it comes to hiring. They spoke about how they want someone that knows how to deal with time management. One of the ladies told us how she went tot baruch and was able to manage having a 3.0 or higher and working during school. I wondered how she was able to mange all of that, i didnt get the chanceto ask her that question. They also want a well rounded person some one that is able to tell us what else is going on inthe world. They want a smart intellectual person that not only can be able to do their assigned task but someone who can hold a conversation. She also spoke about how when she first came to work at Goldman Sachh her first duty was to organize and shed papaers for higher bosses . At first she didnt understand why someone who graduated from baruch with a high degree would go through alll that educatino just to organize papers. She soon realized that everyone has to start somewhere. Then an irish guy on the panel stated that little did she know that that job was very important and everything counts. Overall i enjoyed being there. Being able to be involved in an organization such as NABA helped me adjust to the real world and will also enable me to get to establish my name better, and only progress in Baruch and the professional world.
