Today, I went to the building on 23rd street to meet with Sue and go over my oral presentation from a few weeks back. Sue and I watched the clip of my presentation on the computer and then we discussed it. The pros that we observed were that I had good posture and I spoke loudly and clearly. In addition, my speech was meaningful and well constructed. On the other hand, the cons that we noticed were that I did not make full eye contact with the audience and that I often looked down to read off of my notes. My speech was too general because it did not include enough specific examples regarding how my role model influenced me.
I feel that this review and feedback session went very successfully. I was able to see my presentation from a different perspective and analyze it with a professional in Sue. Her advice was extremely helpful and she gave me a lot of praise for my speech even though it wasn’t at all perfect. She said that if I practice my skills more and improve on my weaknesses then I could become a very good speaker. I think that I will be more prepared for my next oral presentation because of the instruction that I received from Sue. If i put more time and effort into becoming a better speaker, I will achieve my goal.
