Club Fair

I thought this club fair was relatively pointless, since I couldn’t get credit for another Student Life workshop. I just mindlessly walked around and joined random clubs until I got really bored and went to the library.

Challenge your values let’s talk ethics workshop

The ethics and values workshop was really interesting. even thought it was only three of us 🙁 we had a pretty good discussion on how we deal with our ethical values each day we even spoke about the crazy people we deal with at work and trust me I think I deal with the craziest of them all.

the nature of landscpe gallery tour

First up, I didn’t even know Baruch had an art gallery but thats pretty cool.the gallery showcases photos taken by a female pilot giving us a birds eye view of the “world” and using it to her creativity. for example she took a photo of a corn field and made it look like a rug. weird? I thought so too.

Club Fair

The club fair was definitely crowded. I wasn’t able to stop by and observe every club station, but I did see some fascinating things. I saw girls dressed in traditional outfits to represent their clubs and I also saw many interesting items being passed out. It also amazed me when I saw the diversity within these clubs and I was eager to join many of the clubs. I had a great experience today at the club fair and I am looking forward to being active in the clubs that I have joined.

Ethics Workshop

I attended the Ethics Workshop for the Community-Global awareness category on September 22. The workshop took place in room 3-215 and because it was a small room, I was able to enjoy the workshop more. The instructor discussed with us the meaning of ethics and how we view the rights and wrongs of a situation. The instructor gave us real life situations and asked us to see if one’s doings were ethical in any way. We also learned about plagiarism and went over several examples of what items were considered plagiarism or not. I selected this particular workshop because I wanted to learn about ethics and my real views on it. This workshop allowed me to distinguish between the right and the wrong and I would definitely recommend it to other students. It was nice to see what others thought about ethics and the small group discussions helped me to relate to others as well. I learned from this workshop that there are no really right or wrong answers when it comes to ethics. One will have a different view on aspects depending on how one grew up or their backgrounds.

Study Abroad Fair

Every since I was in High School, I always wanted to go to Spain to study abroad. Unfortunately, I never was financially stable to invest in a trip to Spain. The plain ticket alone is like half of what we pay for tuition…well maybe not that much, but you get what I mean. I am really looking to try to get some support financially to study abroad; and going to the fair was definately a good idea. One the “Financial Aid Gurus.” broke it down for me really nicely. He left my mind open to get scholarships, grants, and loans (not really interested in loans). I even found out about an organization in Costa Rica that offer medical classes. That was awesome.

Freshman Reception

Umm… I thought this was a pretty informative workshop, however, we basically went over everything during our freshmen seminar class.

Library Basics Workshop

I found this workshop very informative eventhough Nick did a fantastic job at the library tour. The purpose of this workshop was to explain the various uses of the library website such as the “ask the librarian” service”, the ablity to search all the CUNY libraries for books we want to borrow, the digital collectiions which has tutorials for black board among other things and it also allows you to search up to 200 databases for articles.

Library Tour

I thought the tour helped a lot on understanding what resources the library provides, like the study rooms, reference books, laptop rental, and reading room.  Overall, the tour help me find out where everything is in the library and what it provides.
