Employers Complain about Communication Skills

In a nutshell, the article we were given to read was about how college graduates and the younger generation that is searching for jobs are not communicating well. It is hard for many people to not get out their points clearly. This is quite a shame. In fact, if someone cannot explain a point to another person in a professional manner then that person should be ashamed. It’s simple talking. I understand that some people may get nervous, but that does not mean that they should continue hiding behind their technological gadgets. They should work on it. I believe that they should realize it some point in their college career, and before the time they go for a job interview, try and perfect it. No one is perfect, but we can all improve and stride towards perfection. In class, we discussed the differences between a good presenter and a bad one. We said a bad one does not have eye contact and speak in an articulated manner. This relates to the article because an interviewer noted how some candidates didn’t look her straight in the eye. I feel like a lot of people need to realize that the world is not all Facebook. I feel a lot of young people spend too much time on facebook and aim and this hinders their ability to communicate. It’s okay to use facebook, but at the same time we need to keep a check on ourselves. When was the last time we read a newspaper or talked in a mature, professional manner to our friends? Let’s take this as a wake up call.
