The workshop on a whole was adequate nothing exciting though. It took awhile to find the workshop because it was in Mason Hall and not the Vertical Campus. Upon entering the building we had to sign our names and were given 3 sheets about the various art pieces along with some background information we were going to see. The lady giving the tour seemed like she knew what she was talking about, but didn’t have the voice or tone to captivate the mass of people. Also she didn’t speak loud enough and you couldn’t see the artwork half the time because it was too crowded. People came in halfway through the tour which was distracting and ended up talking half the time making it even harder to hear her. Through all the disruptions and noise I managed to learn about the artist’s “method” of using different colors to express different moods, freeze frame, cropping to show an entirely new perspective on the same image, and the angle at which you portray your art piece. The tour started off at a nice comfortable pace but was rushed at the end when more people arrived which lead to the entire tour ending in 20 minutes, probably due to the majority of people not paying attention. Once the tour ended people rushed to grab their attendance passport to get it signed, followed by a fast exit.
The experience would have been better if the event was more organized, or less people came. If all the other workshops are going to be similar to my experience with Nature of Landscape I really can’t see myself enjoying them.
