As we all know, being able to communicate in today’s world is essential to being successful. Good communication skills are needed if you want a good paying job, but in today’s world, with texting, instant messaging, cell phones, and email, people are lacking in communication skills. Employers can’t communicate with potential workers; employees also can’t communicate with their customers. As the article says “you can be the best physicist in the world, but if you can’t tell people what you do or communicate it to your co-workers, what good is all of that knowledge?” The type of language people use on television or on the radio doesn’t help students and children at all.
What I don’t understand is how people still graduate college, but they can’t communicate with employers or other people. The whole purpose of college is to gain knowledge to be used in the real world and in our future careers. If people are coming out of college, and they still don’t know how to communicate in a job interview, college seems like a waste of time. You can have a degree from a top college, but if you can’t communicate or use the knowledge you gained correctly, then that degree means nothing.
