Title of Workshop: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk ’09
Category of Workshop; Community-Global Awareness
Date/Time: October 25, 2009/9:30 to 12:00
Yesterday, I went the JDRF Walk ’09 in Staten Island at the College of Staten Island. Upon arrival onto the great lawn of CSI, I met my old friends. We did converse for a while and then I went to donate money and get my t-shirt. Since I arrived early, we didn’t begin to walk yet. There were refreshments served and entertainment at the main building. WCBS Channel 2 was there and throwing free stuff at the audience. I went and grab two bagels for my mom and I. After finishing food, and conversing with other people, the walk began. The walk was to walk around the college campus. We walked for 5K. I felt really tired after the walk. I guess that means I have to get into shape. Afterwards, we arrived at the great lawn again and there was refreshments served again. Overall, this was a positive experience. I have been to this walk in the past and other walks as well. It’s great to walk because not only do you get to hang out with your old friends but you get to also help others in fundraising. I also received a free t-shirt from this event. It’s also awesome if you go to walks each year and see your t-shirt collection grow too.
