On Thursday at 12:50 I attended the Basic Interviewing Workshop. The speaker immediately started talking about the interview process. She showed us tricks, and techniques to get through the interviewing process. If you had any questions on how to prepare for an interview, or on the interview process itself this was the workshop to go to.
The first part of the workshop talked about preparing for the interview, followed by how to do a personal pitch. Halfway through the workshop the speaker asked questions and made us stand and interview each other for 3 minutes. Luckily I was next to Dennis, which made the interviewing process easier. Some of the stuff she said was common sense such as don’t go to an interview in jeans, the “handshake”, don’t seem to eager or too aggressive. The workshop concluded with the importance of gestures which I found useful such as not being too stiff or flamboyant.
Even though the workshop was long, time went by fairly quickly because it was so informative. The crowd seemed interested in the overall workshop, and was respectful. This workshop may not have been the funnest workshop, but it was by far the most useful workshop I have attended.
