Employers Complain about Communication Skills

I was actually intrigued by this article and surprised how many people are struggling in speech. Communication is very important in business matters and is a necessity in life, during presentations, speeches, funerals, etc. When the article talked about cellphone use and instant messengers I realized that thousands of students use their cellphones to communicate. It can become a real problem if more and more kids constantly use slang and other grammatical errors which  can be embedded to their vocabulary. Thus, being shy can be another problem. If someone is presenting a great-written speech, but they become so nervous that they start stuttering and using “um’s”, it can cause the speech to go from powerful to gibberish.

Personally, i can relate to this topic. I currently take Speech Communication and I think it is a vital class for me. It helps me learn to speak with emotion, different tones, body language, visualize, etc. Unfortunately, I do use a lot of slang and I hope that this class can benefit me in every way possible. In high school during presentations I used to get nervous and my presentations weren’t at their highest peak. However, as the semester goes on I hope I become a great speaker and help others do the same. I come to realize that through practice, your speech and communication skills can grow dramatically.
