This article about communication in the workplace is a valid point. Employers are recognizing the downfall of communication skills in college graduates entering the workforce. More and more up and coming former students are showing signs that their grammatical skills are lost and they are inept in public speaking. Just as soon as the first impression in an interview the employer will recognize that these applicants are poorly spoken and rely on their blogs texts emails and instant messages way too much.
All of this doesn’t really shock me that much. I have personally seen it through my experiences not only in the workplace but in the college application process. As a senior I would help my friends and read over their college essays or even resumes and I would recognize slang words and poor oratory skills. I would tell them that this is not friendly basis or someone who will cooperate with you and that if they want to get what they are applying for they are going to need to work on their communication skills and use them more in a respectful manner than what they are. They need to work on their ability to impress employers and college advisors with not only their oratory skills but their writing skills and stop using slang.
