Club Fair

I thought there would be more clubs and maybe there are.  Below is my little road map.

My first stop: Parenting Club

I’m not entirely sure what the name is actually. I thought it would be a club to teach growing people some skills necessary as a parent as well as their individual self. I wanted that advice but it’s actually a club for students with kids in Baruch. Their kids get to go to a center on 19th street. It’s like a free daycare for them. Non parent members get to volunteer at the center, teaching kids some basic knowledge. I thought this club was a very good idea for parents going through college. I was very proud of these strangers for being able to manage raising children and going to college.

My second stop: Bio Med Society.

What caught my eye about this table was Operation – the game. I love that game. I have an appreciation for science so I wanted to check out this club. Even though I won’t major in Bio Med, I would love to join a club that would teach me about science. However this club is more for those in the Bio Med majors. It’s a club more geared for getting together with classmates after class.

My third stop: AIESEC

This club is about internships abroad. I found this the most interesting club to join. This club works on helping you develop skills to gain an internship abroad. After you learn the skills, they try to get you an internship abroad in the country you prefer, if you have a preference. It’s for three months. The help you write your resume along with getting your visa for the country you plan to visit. (During the summer) Accommodations and round trip tickets are about $300 total. I definitely want to join this club and get some abroad experience. Going abroad with this program is more for you to learn about the country so you may only work about 3-5 hours per day.

More stops: I went to more tables but after I found a club I wanted to go to, I didn’t bother with others. I want to take one at a time so I’ll probably be joining AIESEC. I hope to see you all there too in the future. I know my entry it very long but I hope it was informative to other classmates who didn’t get to slip through the crowd and see these tables.
