Impression Managing Workshop

Title of Workshop: Impression Managing Workshop

Category of Workshop: Career Exploration

Date/Time of Workshop: October 13, 2009/ 12:50-2:20

Today, I went to the Impression Managing Workshop in which a psychologist and a professor at Baruch came up to the podium and talked about the importance of first impressions. She told us about how important first impressions were and how verbal/nonverbal communications are very important in a job setting. In addition, she gave us some tips on surviving in college. She told us tht we had to be more responsible for our own work because in college, it is the student who asks the professor for help, not the other way around. In addition, she told her struggles and experiences in acheiving her degree. I felt that her experiences really helped us connect in what she was saying. I found her to be helpful yet I also found this her to be tedious because I did learn nonverbal/verbal communication in a communications class already. Overall, this was a good workshop because it gave me a clear image of how we are so close to being a full adults in the real world.
