Community-Global Awareness Workshop

I attended this Community-Global awareness workshop as recommended by my history teacher, Professor Fernandez on October 14th. The workshop dealt with the different backgrounds and races in the United States. The main purpose of the workshop was to inform us about these other races, and it taught us to appreciate the different cultures.

I found this workshop to be very interesting because there were many speakers, and each speaker had something different to say about their background and how it came into play with the society. The workshop had a big emphasis on African Americans and how they are not treated the same as everyone else in today’s society. The speaker used statistics to emphasis on this point. African Americans have lower income and a higher unemployment rate in comparison to other races. I feel that this is true.
