Career exploration workshop: resume writing

I went to the resume writing workshop yesterday, October 27th. They had to change the room three times so it was a journey trying to find where the workshop will be held. This particular workshop was very helpful  because it taught us on how to format our resumes as an undergrad student and how to prepare for interviews. Resumes should be perfect and I learned that each resume only gets an attention span of 50 seconds at the most therefore internships, experiences, and education should be the “jaw-dropping”. The resume is the key to an interview – a chance for the human resources to give you more than a 50 second attention span. You should dress properly for the interviews and be at your best behavior the moment you enter the building because you are being watched. You should be as honest as possible on your resumes because they will test you on the informations youve given. A cover letter is necessary and Thank you letters are a must. Having all three would make you stand out the crowd, eliminate the competition.  They gave us a bunch of papers on which power words should be used for which section of the resume, how to get a starr career account, and guidelines on cover letters as well as thank you notes.
