I attended the Resume Writing workshop to fulfill my Career Exploration. The workshop was located in a small room on the 3rd floor of the NVC. I felt that the room was not well suited for the workshop. The instructor attempted to show us a powerpoint on her laptop but was unable to connect to the Baruch network (due to lack of wireless internet connection in the room).
The instructor reviewed the main points of a resume, i.e. name, objective, education, language, etc. I learned that it is important for you to put your GPA in your resume if you have a 3.0+ and if its lower that a 3.0, you omit the GPA. I also learned that it does not matter what jobs or internships you attended in high school because in college you are suppose to start fresh on your resume.
I also learned about the importance of a thank you letter, as covered in Freshmen Seminar. It is important to send a thank you letter to show your appreciation and in many cases, the thank you letter is the deal breaker for a position.
