On November 3rd, I attended the Mercedes Matter art exhibit in Sydney Mishkin. It was the shortest workshop I attended; it only lasted about fifteen minutes. However, the line to get into the exhibit was extremely long. Mercedes paintings included many triangles, a table, fruits, and bright colors, specifically yellow. It amazed me how the combination of the simplest things- fruits, a table and triangles, could result in such beautiful paintings. Her paintings were very abstract; what one person saw was different from what another saw. It was a puzzle to find some of the triangles and tables, because they blended in so well. We were able to figure out where the tables in her paintings were located by looking spotting at least one leg of the table. In this workshop we learned that entrepreneurs invest in paintings because artworks such as those of Mercedes Matter are very valuable, and continue to become more and more valuable as time progresses.
