I attended the Internship workshop on 11/10/09. I thought it was informative but not quite my cup ‘o tea. I don’t really see myself working for anyone else in the future and as interesting as some of the internships seemed I knew I wouldn’t want to do something like that for long.
I went to the Pursuing your Passion: choosing a major and career workshop. It was filled with tons of information and helpful tips in choosing a major that truly suits you and your goals and desires. During high school I always intended to be an advertising major. After this workshop I was able to expand and research into choosing a career that might fit my personality better. Overall, great workshop; very insightful and helpful.
The workshop i went to was very bad because it was in a small room with alot of people and they ended up kicking people out by the end of the workshop because it was too full. I didnt get to learn much, but it did better my resume creating skills.
I went to the Resume Writing workshop. It was actually very unorganized, they had to kick people out and it was very crowded and held in a small room. However, the information they gave us was useful for career planning. We received a packet with more information so we can go back and refresh our memories.
I went to the Career Planning: Impression Managing Workshop on Tuesday, October 13 from 1-2:30. It was about how how first impressions are main key and the overall appearance is very essential in order to be a successful individual. Overall in any career, one must take these obvious tips into consideration.
“Pursuing your Passion: choosing a major and career” was a blast. I picked this workshop because i didn’t know what my major would be. in high school, I was a social science major. I liked it a lot, but didn’t know if it was the right career path for me. A starr rep hosted the workshop. she explained what to consider when deciding a major. worksheets were given out that let us evaluate our own personalities. I love Baruch so much. <333
i attended the basic interviewing workshop. it was very interesting and helpful. the lady who spoke throughout the workshop had alot of experience in the interviewing field and i felt comfortable listening to all her tips. i feel i am better prepared to go into an interview now thanks to this workshop.
I went to the workshop about impression management. It was about how you must be in tip top shape emotionally and externally. It taught how everything is about first impressions and how we must try our hardest to maintain that wanted first impression everywhere we go.
Going to the Internship Seminar this week helped me a great deal. I feel I have a greater advantage now that I know about certain things I had no clue about. For example I learned about linkedin.com, which is a website where you network in a business setting. I recieved a manual on internships which included great resume tips and awesome places to look if I were interested in getting an internship. I am so glad I went because now I have a clearer understanding about the internship opportunities offered at Baruch. :] This was the best Workshop I attended so far. I highly recommend it even if you aren’t looking for an intership right now, for some majors it is required in the future. So I would attend this one again even if I already completed my Career Exploration requirement.
Attending the basic interviewing techniques workshop was very helpful. They gave tips on appropriate attire when attending an interview as well as how to make yourself stand out so you can actually be considered for that job. They also provided common interview questions and how one can answer them.
I thought this workshop was extremely informative. The workshop primarily consisted of talking about first impressions and how to make that first impression to be a positive one, especially for job interviews. There was practical and honest advice and tips on networking and proper behavior. All in all, the workshop was well rounded and helpful.
