I attended the Student Services Fair on 10/13/09. It was packed, hard to get all the information and I dunno, I guess it could have been run a bit better. I got a packet of papers which were supposed to come in handy but I have yet to find a use for most of them… All in all it was an OK seminar.
The “Using the Web for Research” held in the library was a very factual and helpful workshop. During this workshop, we were tought how to use the internet most effiecently and productively for solid, credible research. We were also taught how to cite material from the internet. Given that most students use the internet for research, this material provided was extremly helpful and informative.
I attended a workshop within the Baruch library, i felt it was the most helpful out of all the worshops i attended because of it’s purpose. She taught us how to search on google to find better search results, how to use the baruch database, and how to better ourselves in the research process.
I went to the workshop that was held in the library, “Using the Web for Research.” It was basically to show us how to use the internet sources, such as databases and also how to cite them. It also showed us how to know how credible a website is, so it was very helpful.
I went to the SACC: General Study Tips Workshop on Tuesday, September 29 from 12:30-2:30 with a a pretty good feedback from the instructor, who is actually my English New Media professor. I had a very good understanding of the general study techniques and we discussed the different ways each student in the workshop studied and took notes. I learned and accumulated a lot of great tips and enjoyed sharing my general study habits and getting feedback from an experienced individual in order to succeed in my future studying needs.
the Fresh start workshop was too, met with a mob of people. it must have been the free refreshments.. the best thing is that a woman signed off our passports before even entering the workshop. of course, i still stayed- because i love the facade of community Baruch tries so hard to emit. i received a folder containing some handouts that informed me about majors and whatnot. i learned that the Center for academic advisement was available to students who needed more info. I didn’t. This was the least time consuming workshop, therefore i liked it best.

After attending the student services fair, I learned a lot about the different opportunities presented to me at Baruch College. I learned about the basic FAQs for freshman for example where to pay my semester bill and how the core curriculum works. I also received an entire folder full of information to help me long the way during my freshman career. I recommend that every freshman attends, it was brief experience but a fulfilling one at that.
i attended the workshop for persuing your passion toward your major. it was a very good workshop. it was very interactive and we did a few activities to help us understand what type of majors are out there. it also helped me identify what group of majors i should look into based on what kind of person i am. this could be really helpful for academic career one day and i was glad i attended this workshop
I found the reception to be in a sense, lacking. There was information and tips on getting around Baruch. However, it was cut short because there was overcrowding due to the number of freshmen that arrived to attend.
I went to the Student Services Workshop. It was basically a demo of the offices that engage with students firsthand. It was good. I spoke to a couple representatives of these offices and they told me what they could do for me. Simple, short, informative, and sweet.
Attending the Freshmen Reception was very informative.I learned where to academic advisement center was and how the people there are catered to help you. They help you with recommending what classes to take next semester, choosing your major/minor and any questions you have in regard to classes.Despite the large out pour of freshmen who attended, they did their best to inform us and what they do.
